I Want Candy!

Remember when Aaron Carter was dancing on stage singing "I Want Candy" or telling us to come to "Aaron's Party?" Well, now it looks like the former teen sensation has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Apparently Carter is more than $2 million in debt all thanks to his parents who managed him while he was a teen (Thanks Mom and Dad!).

Aaron Carter

According to court documents, he only has $8,232.16 to his name, which is exciting for me because that means I'm currently richer than Aaron Carter. The saddest part of this story though is that when he lists his assets, which include a TV, two Macbooks and a few other items, he also lists his dog, but values him at zero. Poor doggy.

By filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Carter will be starting completely over and (should be) working hard to build his credit back up. Maybe he can come out with another 90s inspired hit to boost his monthly income which is currently only $1,998.75. I'd hate to see another 90s star spiral out of control, so I feel it's only right to wish Aaron the best of luck.

My So Called Life

For those of you who may not know what My So Called Life is, you need to stop right here and go check it out on Hulu. This summer it was suggested to me that I watch MSCL because Claire Danes did a fabulous job portraying the 15 year old Angela Chase and plus it was just a really great teen drama. So knowing nothing about the series that was short-lived, only 19 of 22 episodes aired, I went to work on it.

Warning spoilers follow the break.

Goodbye Silly Bandz, Hello Rainbow Loom!

Apparently Rainbow Loom has been around for some time under the name Twistz Bandz, but have only recently exploded in popularity. Children of all ages, yes even some 20-somethings, have fallen under the spell of the Rainbow Loom. When I recently purchased my loom I tried to follow the patterns that were included in the booklet, but had a hard time understanding which rubber band went on what hook. So I went over to Youtube and boy was I surprised at the number of videos, not to mention the number of views each video had.

With the help of Youtube and some pretty crafty tweens, I have been able to create these bracelets. I thought about creating tutorials as well, especially for the dragon scale (there's like 3 videos out there), but at least for now I think I will just feature the ones that I believe are the best.

Check out Kristie's video for a loose dragon scale bracelet:

Learning Express has a lot of good videos, here's one for the rainbow ladder:

Stay tuned for more Rainbow Loom posts and videos. Let me know in the comments your favorite bracelet patterns, tutorials, places to buy looms, etc.

Welcome to Never Growin' Up

Welcome to my blog, I'm excited to start yet another blog (this will be my 5th attempt) and I am 100% confident this will be my final attempt as I have great expectations for this.

I decided to start this blog after I was listening to a HuffPo Live segment about blogging for jobs and as I was listening to it I played with the Rainbow Loom bracelet I was wearing, which got me thinking. What if I created a blog about Rainbow Loom? I've watched lots of Youtube videos, but never once saw a blog dedicated to them, so surely there would be a market for me, but what if Rainbow Looms went out of style soon after I started my blog? Then I thought what if I created a blog that combined 90s nostalgia with the current trends of the 2010s (is that what we call them?)? And so was born Never Growin' Up.

Stay tuned for a whole bunch of 90s nostalgia, stuff the kids are getting their hands onto nowadays and of course lots of Rainbow Loom because well that's the hottest thing right now and I'm not ashamed to say that yes I loom.
